SECRET OF HABITS

H - Hankering and Lamentation

A - Attention to Action

B - Be-aware of good and bad

I - Incremental Improvement

T - Transformation

Dictionary definition of HABIT: Practice that is hard to give up / Mental attitude which is developed by repeated actions.

Mechanism of Habit

Habits are like software which is deeply affected by programming system of the programmer.

     ● Software = Habits (Deep rooted)

    ● Programming System = Actions (Feeding medium)

    ● Programmer = Mind (Source)

Hence, HABIT = THOUGHTS + ACTIONS

Spiritual Perspective of Habits

Analogy from Bhagavad-Gita (Chapter 3 , Verse 38) , usually habits have three different coverings:

◆Stage 1 : Mirror is covered by dust

◆Stage 2 : Fire is covered by smoke

◆Stage 3 : Embryo is covered by womb

Similarly, here in this material world, unconditioned soul is covered by different degrees of lust.

Some Do’s to develop/maintain good habits

It is declared in the Srimad-Bhagavatam that, to develop/maintain good habits, these four pillars are most important,

 1. MERCY: Civilized behavior is to survive with minimum possible pain to others.

 2. AUSTERITY: It is avoided to engage in sense gratification and more focused on spiritual advancement.

3. CLEANLINESS: One has to be very clean and hygienic externally as well as internally and thus, one is active and enthusiastic.

4. TRUTHFULLNESS: It means that facts should be present as they are, for the benefit of others.

De-Addiction formulas

 * Once you get into a bad habits, it is difficult to get out. Better not to get into it in the first place.

* Don’t put COMMA to bad habits, put a FULLSTOP.

* Habits don’t change until we consciously change them.

* Only the power of God can give us the power to overcome our addictions.

* The addictions of this world literally give us a “kick”. Once we comprehend this, this is a chance for us to stop ourselves from being kicked again and again.

* Compulsive dependency on any gratification outside yourself to satisfy you is an addiction

The Universal Quotients - Explore Yourself!

รคhรคra-nidrรค-bhaya-maithunaร  ca

dharmo hi teรฑรคm adhiko viรงeรฑo
dharmeรซa hรฉnรครน paรงubhiรน samรคnรครน

Eating,Sleeping,Sex and Defense : these four principles are common to human beings & animals, and advancement of these four principles is not human civilization but an animal civilization. The distinction between human life and animal life is that a man can search after god but animal cannot , that is the difference. Therefore a man without that urge for searching after god is no better than an animal.
The basic dynamics involved are represented in the form of universally accepted four quotients denoted as 'PIES' which means

Physical Quotient (PQ) : A healthy Physique. (Humans+ Animals)
Intelligent Quotient (IQ) : Physical observation via senses.(Humans+ Animals)
Emotional Quotient (EQ) : What lies beneath.(Humans+ Animals)
Spiritual Quotient (SQ) : Getting into the core.(Only Humans)

These four quotients are maintained by different HOD's namely Mr.Body , Mr.Mind , Mr.Buddhi

Mr.Body : Head of the department of PQ & IQ
It expresses urges such as hunger, thirst, sleep etc. Works under demanding mood.

Mr.Mind : Head of the department of EQ
He is the personality within us and is potentially superior to Mr.Body. Mr.Mind decides what should be given to Mr.Body and what shouldn't be given. In an ill-manged scenario Mr.Mind becomes controlled by Mr.Body and this results in chaos.
Mr.Mind dealing with an emotions.

Mr.Buddhi(Intellect) : Head of the department of SQ
He is personally within us, is rarely recognized in our internal environment, because most of the time we are absorbed in meeting the demand of Mr.Body & Mr.Mind. But when the needs of Mr.Body & Mr.Mind are met, the needs of Mr.Buddhi are recognized.

The 'Q'uest Begins!
IQ test are famous for assessing logical, mathematical and linguistic skills. We all wish we were in that top bracket of Mensa elite who have an IQ in excess of 140 - unfortunately only 0.5% of the population make it! Developed intelligence empowers one to gather, process and analyse information effectively. The intelligence can think in abstract ways & learn from their experiences. Despite this, history shows that the intelligent are not always the most successful happy & influential people in the world. Psychologist and Neuroscientists are increasingly talking about the need for EQ. Those with high EQ's are emotionally balanced, able to maintain composure in the chaos of life and grent at relating with people in appropriate and inspiring ways.

Moving towards the Best
His Divine Grace A C Bhakthivedanta Swami Prabhupad comments, "Man is a rational animal is not a perfect definition,Man is a Spiritual animal". We are given this human form of life not to work hard like asses, swine & dogs but to attain the highest perfection of life. Hence SQ gives the justification for Human life!

SQ motivates us to create new situations if necessary. Thus it determine our happiness as also our ability to meaningfully utilize IQ & EQ. SQ has many characteristics, most of which centre on perception of the unchanging,non- temporal, divine aspect of life.

 Working Mechanism with Spiritual Quotient
Here is presenting a practical and potent formula to increase Spiritual Quotient dramatically
Mechanism Rule : ABCD

A - Association : Interacting with & learning from high SQ people like devotees of Lord enables us to see order amidst chaos, plan amidst change.
B - Books Reading : Studying spiritual books especially the Bhagavad-Gita As It Is ( Human life manual ) answers life's fundamental questions and empowers us with inner direction & motivation.
C - Chanting : Regular meditation on the holy names of Lord i.e., Hare Krishna mahamantra bestows spiritual tranquility even amidst material adversity.
'Between B for Birth and D for Death there is a C for Chanting which we are living for'
The connection through mantra mediation yields three(3P's) extraordinary benefits
                    1. Peace - Immediate benefit
                    2. Purity - Intermediate benefit
                    3. Pleasure - Ultimate benefit
D - Diet : It's not only restricted to food, but it is what you watch, what you read. The people you hang around.Be mindful of the things you put into your body emotionally, spiritually & physically.Eating vegetarian food sanctified by offering to God nourishes our body, purify our mind & awakens our soul.

Final Words - Last but not the Least
This suggests that just as financial capital is the basis of any business , the Spiritual Capital-SQ-is the basis of our business of life. It fills us with the divine confidence in all endeavors. I hope this collection will stimulate your SQ and offer some 'food for thoughts' in a world that ( consciously/unconsciously ) yearns for fresh perspective and newer paradigms.
In the world of E-mail,E-ticket,E-paper,E-charge,E-transfer Never forget 'E-shwar' who makes E-verything,E-asy for E-veryone, E-veryday .

The word 'YOGA' is derived from the Sanskrit word "yuj".
It means 'to link' or 'to connect'

Conventional understanding of Yoga
Asanas,Pranayama,Dhyana

Yoga is not only restricted to
* Breathing exercise
* Physical exercise for healthy body
* Going to Himalayas
* Better facility for sense enjoyment

Yoga is redefined

Question: So what is real meaning of Yoga?
●Answer: The process of linking ourselves with God.

YOGA LADDER

(a) KARMA-KANDA
• Encourages regulated sense gratification
• Meant to bring general mass of people to the  platform of religiosity
• Purifies the practitioner in many ways:
1.Regulations brings detachment which fosters knowledge
2.Gradually Vedas expose him to Jnana and Upasana sections
3.Results of Yajna gives them faith in Sastras
4.Motivates him to associate with Brahmanas
• Gradually the practitioner finds the ‘futility of material life’ and makes ‘transcendence as his goal’

(b) SAKAMA-KARMA-YOGA
     Understand transcendence as the goal
• Frustration in material life / Desires purification
• Attempts to renounce fruits of labor
• But attachment to material desires (fruits) still linger on

(c) NISKAMA-KARMA-YOGA
Gives up the attachment to the fruits of work, but still attached to the
work itself

(d) JNANA-YOGA
Platform of philosophical enquiry
• Detached from both, ‘action’ and the ‘fruit of action’

(e) ASTANGA-YOGA
Achieved when jnana-yoga elevates to the point of meditation

(f) BHAKTI-YOGA
• Can permeate any of the stages mentioned above other than Karma Kanda , but generally doesn't fully manifest before the deep realisation evolved at the Jnana stage

     Different Levels - Different Destinations!

Yoga is named differently according to different methods adopted
● If linking process is predominantly fruitive acts – called Karma yoga
● If linking process is predominantly empirical – called Jnana yoga
● If linking process is predominantly devotional – called Bhakti yoga.

Bhakti-yoga is the ultimate perfection of yoga – anything short of that is imperfect
● Ascetics without self knowledge – imperfect
● Empiric knowledge without surrender – imperfect
● Karma-yoga without Krishna Consciousness – waste of time

Conclusion of Yoga Ladder – It all starts from Karma-yoga without fruitive results (Niskama-karma-yoga)
◆ Niskama-karma-yoga + knowledge and renunciation = ‘Jnana-yoga’
◆ Jnana-yoga + meditation = ‘Astanga-yoga’
◆ Astanga-yoga + realisation of Krishna in devotion = ‘Bhakti-yoga’

                        COMPARISON OF DIFFERENT YOGA SYSTEMS
SL.No Karma, Jnana, Astanga Yoga etc Bhakti-yoga
      1
●They are different steps on Yoga ladder
●They are progressions towards the destination of Bhakti-yoga
●Goal of Yoga is Bhakti-yoga

●Therefore Yoga actually means Bhakti yoga
      2●Selfish interests
●Possess material desires
● Selfless
● Free from all material desires
      3●May fail to achieve success
●They may stick to onepoint and fail to progress and thus they are called by that particular name
●Guaranteed success
●Definitely makes progress because means and end are same
4●When Karma yoga increases in knowledge and renunciation it is called Jnana yoga
●When Jnana yoga increases in meditation,it is Astanga yoga
●When Astanga yoga comes to the point of realizing Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, that is Bhakti yoga
●Analogy: Krishna Consciousness is the highest rung of Yoga – e.g. Mount Everest is the highest peak of the Himalayas.

CONCLUSION

Learning - The wonderful process

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
It's my small humble attempt to reflect knowledge what I have learned from My Spiritual Master, His disciples & My personal mentors.
Please forgive if any mistakes or any wrong information which I have made, which are likely due to my limited knowledge and lack of Spiritual Dept.

LEARNING - THE WONDERFUL PROCESS

There’s a few simple techniques you can use with your revision cards while you are learning to trick your brain into retaining information.

Images - The mind Mapping

Draw a picture on the blank side of each card. The human brain is very excellent at recalling pictures, venn diagrams, flow charts etc, but can struggle with recalling words; pairing the two helps.

For eg; flow chart๐Ÿ‘‡

Colour - Magic

Make clever use of colour:

  • Studies have found that you’re more likely to remember notes that are written in blue, rather than black ink.
  • Underline important topics in bright colours.
  • Highlight key phrases.
  • Split different subjects or topics distinctly between the different colours of revision card.
  • Draw in coloured ink or pencil on the unlined side!

Double up - 2× (Split it)

Create multiple, different flashcards for difficult-to-remember topics. You will be far more likely to remember things if you create two types of card for each topic:

  • Cards with a single word and no context, e.g. “Dog”. This will test your recall.
  • Cards that describe the subject or object, e.g. “What wags its tail and chases cats?”. This will test your comprehension.

Separate them out - Syllable method

Don’t revise groups of words as a shopping list of items. Separate them out and learn them individually, or you will find you have to repeat each word in the group when you want to recall them.

Pocket-friendly ; Weapon

Always keep your revision flashcards with you – you never know when you can squeeze in some revision! Because they’re coil bound, they’ll stay together in your pocket or bag, and the polyethylene covers and plastic binding are super tough.

Simplicity - Master key

Keep your cards short and simple. There’s no need to over-complicate your sentences – these are revision flashcards, not notes. If you find you can’t remember the topic and need more information, write separate study notes and refer to them as and when needed.

Mnemonics - Acronyms

They don’t work for everyone, but for some people, mnemonics are a great way to memorise facts. The first letter of each word you need to remember can be used to create a phrase; for example,

Richard OYork Gave Battle IVain” helps you to remember the colours of the rainbow in order (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet).

LAG - Lust Anger Greed

Bonus: Overall revision tips:

Association

You might find it helpful to associate images with the topic you are revising. An easy way to do this is to draw something simple and colourful on the reverse of each flashcard.

Create a revision timetable

Researchshows that 20-30 minute intervals for revision are best for concentration, with frequent short breaks to help give your mind a rest.

Exercise : Physical + Mental

Physical exercise : Physical activity increases your heart rate, making blood circulate faster. This helps the brain to get more oxygen, which in turn increases productivity and reduces tiredness and stress. If you’re not feeling up to anything strenuous, a brisk 15-minute walk is particularly effective – just remember to bring your revision cards with you!

Mental : Similarly we have to deal with mental exercise by Chanting daily which will tremendous helpfull in the peace for the mind . Most people failed to control their own mind because they are not exercising their mind

So Chanting is very important criteria - Formula: IQ+EQ+SQ=∞

Exercise Results;

●Physical : Happinesses

●Mental: Peace

Find  a quiet space - Independence

It may seem obvious, but you need to find a quiet place that has minimal distractions. Consider leaving your phone with a friend or parent so you won’t be tempted, and try taking a trip to the library or a local park so there’s nothing around to distract yourself with.

Its suggested that your reading room must be free from electronic gadgets!

Start Early - The journey

Research shows that the earlier in the day you start working on something, the more likely you are to finish it. There are more distractions in the evenings, and you may feel more tired. Create a routine that works for you, and stick to it!

Use Past Papers

Past papers will help you to practice and learn exam technique. This will save you precious time in the exam hall. In particular, pay attention to how the starting word of a question can completely change the way you have to answer it (e.g. assess, describe, discuss, etc.

Prayer - Wireless connection

Always keep the attitude of gratitude THANK YOU - Powerful prayer
When you start praying Magic begins.

Hope it will helpfull!
Thank You
